Granini's Cakes
and "truffles" (otherwise known as cake pops or cake balls)
So I dabble in several fun hobbies...
One of which is making birthday cakes and cupcakes for my family and for friends, and occasionally for strangers. I make what I like to call "Every Day Desserts." I specialize in cookies and brownies, pies and cakes. I have been known to make sugar cookies with frosting on top, cakeballs and fudge, peanut butter rice krispie treats with chocolate on top, amongst so many other things. I have catered dessert tables for birthdays, wedding showers, auction gatherings, graduation celebrations, and, of course, Christmas parties. And I dabble a wee bit in gingerbread house making and decorating. Some day I would like to go to the local mall, offer up a gingerbread house to the local candy shop, and decorate the house in the front window of the shop whilst busy shoppers hustle on by, laden with their bags and boxes of lovely presents, listening to Christmas music and allowing the magic of Christmas to wash over me. Just to see that one little face pressed up against the window, in awe of my decorating skills, and ALL THAT CANDY, would be a blissful haven to me. We could even auction off the gingerbread house, and give all the money to a local charity. Now wouldn't that be just nifty?
I'm not a cake artist, by any means. I much prefer focusing on how yummy something tastes, than on making something aesthetically pleasing.
That being said, my lovely daughter suggested that I start posting photos of some of the cakes I have thrown together for various folks over the last little while. I come up with (eh hem, steal) all of my ideas almost exclusively off of Pinterest (you can follow me here: http://www.pinterest.com/happyyakker/ ), and I am most grateful for all you lovely people for allowing me to do so.
(Here are links to recipes for pies, cookies, and tasty treats, and food -- not desserts)
I have many (!!) other cakes I will upload eventually. Some of these I have detailed information on how I made the cakes with additional pictures. If you want to know more information about the cake (like what materials I used or how did I do something), leave a comment on the blog and I'll post details. :)
