Gingerbread House!

Gingerbread House 2014

This year's gingerbread house started out as a complete flop (literally!), but turned out to be one of my all time favorites.  I am by no means a professional -- I'm a simple baker who loves to make gingerbread houses.  This house stood about 15 inches tall and about 18 inches wide.  Depth wise, it was probably six or seven inches.

Several folks have asked me just exactly how I do what I do when I make my gingerbread houses, so I thought I'd make a little tutorial.

Here's what my finished house looked like this year.

Yes, my windows are made out of melted candy, and yes, I have lights on the inside!!

Here's the side view with the chimney -- a little whoopsie doodle there with the angle of the  chimney piece on top of the roof.  I haven't figured out exactly what needs to be different, but clearly, my angles are a little off.

Here's a picture of the back of the house.  I forgot to take a picture of the back of the house after the roof was completed, so you can see what it looked like before I added the "cedar shake" shingles.  You can also see the little green box which is the battery operated light switch for the Christmas lights I have on the inside of the house.

Here's a side view of the other side of the house.

And here's a view of the front once again.  So cute!

If you'd like to see a tutorial of how I made it, you can click here:
